Palisades Glacier

Palisades Glacier is the southernmost glacier in the United States. Located above Big Pine, CA in the Sierra Nevada range, it is clearly visible from US Highway 395. From the Glacier Lodge, 8 miles from US Highway 395, there are several trails to follow to this ancient glacier. Lakes are abundant along the trails as well as fascinating geological features.

Hikers, and those up to the challenge, will be rewarded with a glimpse of the most recent ice age, the Palestine.
